Douglas Lake Report: July 5th, 2010

I had Mr. Joe Chitty from Louisiana out today and we had a great trip. Our best 5 pushing 26 lbs. All of our big fish came on crank baits before dark and caught several on finesse worms after dark. It was one of those nights were everything went right and landed all of our fish, we had 1 over 7 lbs, 2 over 6 lbs, 1 in the 4 lb range, and 3 in the 2 lb range.

The water temps was 88 degrees, slightly stained and lots of boat traffic from the holiday weekend. The outside conditions were clear, no wind, and nice warm 90 degrees when we launched at 6:00 pm. Most of the fish seems to be in the 18-20 ft. range during the day light hours and 10-15 ft. once it got dark.

Ft. Loudoun Fishing Report June 18th, 2010

The fishing has been really good for the past 3 to 4 weeks. I have been averaging 12-14 pounds in the last 6 tournaments and catching 15-30 fish a trip. This past Friday Ted Ridley and I finished 4th in a tournament and had a great time. Thanks Ted for your hard work keeping the website up to date.

We are cathcing fish lots of different ways cranking 5-12 ft drops, shaky head, flipping and some top water mostly from Concord up. The fish are still in a post spawn mode mostly susspended over the seconddary points and main channel drops on the lower end. Good luck!

Douglas Lake Report May 15, 2010 (Fishers Of Men Tournament Trail)

My partner (Tommy Brown) and I finished 2nd with 13.82 lb. It took 14lb to win.

Water temp on the upper end running 70-72 degrees and 78 on the mid section around Dandrige.
Water clarity mostly clear, sunny and 85 degress.
We caught 15-20 keepers and managed to cull up several times.
Techniques: flipping jigs was the main deal 1-3 foot but caught the best fish of the day on the bed.
We ended the day trying to up grade by going deep around the mid lake section with c-rigs and crankbaits but only managed 2 or 3 keepers that did not help.

I practiced the lower end on May 11 and most of the big fish still seem to be trying to bed. We caught 5 limits shallow in the 12 -16 in. range with the cloud cover that day mostly on trick worm and top water. The big fish were hard to come by.

The fish are biting really well right now and have plently availability for a trip.

Watts Bar Lake Report April 15, 2010

Watts Bar Lake Report April 15
Water clarity clear 1-3 foot visibility most everywhere ( Polin does cause some murky tent)
Water temp 74 degrees
Water level 839 ( still down about 2 foot)

Best baits: Wake baits/ or favorite top water, shaky heads, and spinnerbaits. There seems to be alot of largemouth really shallow ready to spawn, but most smallmouth are in post spawn patterns.

Ft Loudoun Fishing report April 3, 2010

Annual Herman Gellifingure Tournament had close to a 200 boat field
It took 17.15 to win today and My partner Terry Newcomb and I finished 3rd with 16.18. There were several bags from 10-14 pounds that were in the money.

It was a beautiful 80 degree day mostly sunny with some cloud cover on and off. Water temp average 58-60 on the main channel and 65 in the pockets and creeks. We focused on the main river channel as we did last week working the same areas and with the warm weather made the fish a little more active.

Best bait selection today was JC Custom crankbait, Bandits, and Jerkbait. We also caught a few keepers on jigs.

Watts Bar Fishing Report March 30:

Water temp 52 on the channel and 55 in the pockets and even hihger in some creeks.
Sunny, no wind, no current, and slightly stained in all areas.

Caught over 25 fish with 4 nice keepers in the 2.5-3.5 pound range
The pockets and creeks seemed to be the deal today due to no current on the main channel.
The lake is coming up, so it appears they are letting it fill up.
Finesse... shaky head worm.

Fishing Report March 27th, 2010 - Ft. Loudoun

Ft. Loudoun March 27th
Annual Bill Williams Benefit Tournament 90 boats. It took 17 lbs to win with several 12 and 13 lb bags.
We were 10th with 10 lbs.

Water temps still 49-50 on the main channel and 53 in the creeks.
Most of our fish were caught flipping jigs on channel banks on the main river and had one 4 lb smallmouth cranking.
The crankbait bite was good early in the week but feel off due to the cold front condition. The weights are still down for this time of the year.

Fishing Report: Fishing today with Father-in-law

Cloudy 50 degrees

Water temp 37 main channel and frozen solid in the creeks….. clear.

Shakey Head 3-4" worm, fished slow.

16 large mouth.
